    Message 1 of 1 , Dec 1, 2001
Here's a press release for anyone who's enough close and interested:

"The McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage is hosting a rare concert
performance of Ken Nordine's Word Jazz on Friday, December 7th at 8pm.

Ken Nordine has made his way through this world with his voice. And he has
made a fascinating life with something he invented called "Word Jazz."
Originally the title of his seminal 1957 album, the term now designates a
genre. And if you know the right people, dropping that term elicits a
      conspiratorial grin.

A two-time Grammy Award winner and charting at #38 in the San Francisco
Chronicle's List of Quintessential Cool, Ken Nordine is renowned as one of
the most distinctive and all-time great American voices. And at 81 years of
age, Ken is at the height of his sublime powers. His latest CD, "A
Transparent Mask," was recently released by Asphodel Records.

Accompanying Ken in concert will be The Essence of Cool featuring Chicago
jazz greats Paul Wertico, Jim Gailloreto, Ken Haebich and Kristan Vaughan.
Tickets are $15 with discounts available for seniors and students and are
available through the McAninch Arts Center Box Office at (630) 942-4000 or
on the Internet at www.ticketweb.com <http://www.ticketweb.com>.

Ken Nordine's Word Jazz can be heard locally every Sunday at midnight on
WBEZ 91.5 FM. And on Wednesday, December 5th, the Chicago Chapter of the
Recording Academy will be honoring Ken Nordine as a recipient of its 2001
      Chicago Heroes Award."

I hope the place is packed. He's the coolest 81 year old.
