The Wire's 'policy' is (and has been) to westernize the Japanese
names (first name first, family name last) unless the artists
specifically want their names to be read the Japanese way (family
name first, fist name last), which is the case of Otomo (who insists
on being referred to as Otomo Yoshihide rather than Yoshihide Otomo).
Confusing? I guess it is...

> otomo's name is interesting in relation to the wire.
> as i understand it their policy is(was) to anglicize names ie
>family name last....so you get keiji haino instead of haino keiji.
>otomo on the other hand is kept in the japanese order...i think this
>is because he releases with his name in this order...and it seems
>many japanese artist's names have been handled in this way
>lately....maybe a policy change....very very confusing
