From The Guardian, The Guide, Page 34, Saturday 4
      November 2000<br><br><br>Smoking with Lulu<br><br>"Bring a
gun," ordered silent movie star Louise Brooks when the
theatre critic Kenneth Tynan arranged to interview her in
1978, 50 years after her last interview. Janet Musil's
fictional account of that meeting - that was to lead to
Tynan's famous New Yorker profile The Girl In The Black
Helmet - is the subject of this three hander, seen in
North America underthe title of Emphysema, the disease
that was to kill Tynan shortly afterwards. This is
probably the first play that includes the proviso that the
actors cast must be totally happy to smoke throughout.
Thelma Barlow starts as the woman whose haircut spawned
a fashion sensation and who became known as Lulu,
the heroine of Pabst's 1928 silent classic Pandora's
Box and the object of Tynan's erotic fantasies. <br>
