It's more complicated than that, the entire history of the Eccossai Rites
are littered with forgeries, pseudo-attributions and degree mills. Pike's
version achieved legitimacy by sheer force. Even so, Cerneauism was so
successful that a compromise had be to made, which is why there are two
jurisdictions Northern and Southern.

There are many jurisdictions of the AASR that don't recognize it, or it's
supremacy. Different national grand obediences throughout Europe have
differing views on the matter. As well as variants with similar
degrees, the Rectified Scottish Rite, and Swedish Rite come to mind. The
House of the Temple is very pretty. They send me a calender every year
asking for money to pay for it.
