Your assumptions are incorrect. Crowley wrote the Old Comment
before meeting Achad or recognizing 31 as a key. If the number 8 as
it appears in verse I: 46 were written in Roman numerals you would
have a valid complaint. As it is, the 8 could be a trump or a
gematria value. Neither choice is more or less arbitrary than the
other. It appears you are attempting to create imaginary standards by
which to discredit the sequence as presented.
