Trolley museums count upon the general public, not necessarily
traction enthusiasts, to boost revenues for historic preservation and
restoration projects. So they typically offer seasonal promotions that
would appeal to families looking for nostalgia. October is the time
for pumpkin patch trolleys and Fox River Trolley Museum, South Elgin,
Ill., had a successful event last weekend. The Daily Herald posted
      this story:

Fox River has a representative selection of interurban equipment from
the Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee, Chicago Aurora & Elgin and rapid
transit cars from CTA. There is one streetcar on the roster:

At Washington, Pa., Pennsylvania Trolley Museum opened its Pumpkin
Patch Trolley event last weekend and it continues for the next two
      weekends:

Rockhill Trolley Museum, Rockhill Furnace (Orbisonia), Pa., holds its
Pumpkin Patch Trolley event Oct. 25-26:

Shore Line Trolley Museum, Branford, Conn., has two special events
      later this month:
"Visit the Pumpkin Patch on October 18, 19, 25 or 26. Children select
their own pumpkin to decorate (one per paid child admission while
supplies last). Enjoy refreshments and trolley rides all day long.
      Adults: $8, Seniors: $6, Children: $5.
"We dare you to ride the Graveyard Express from 6:30 to 9:00 Friday
      and Saturday nights, October 17, 18, 24 and 25. $10 per person, $8 if
you come in costume. Please note: Daytime tickets are not valid for
this event. The museum is not open during the day on Friday 10/17 and
      10/24."

Connecticut Trolley Museum at East Windsor also has Halloween season
      themed events:
