Re: Rear Wheel bearing replacememt I use a 36mm 1/2" drive socket and a long bar that slides over the ratchet handle for leverage.  The bearings are press fit on the outer end of the axle.

Re: 86 Brat differential wine I would guess it's your gear backlash getting a bit loose. If so, while accelerating the gears will be held tightly together and will not be able to loosen
