The proper name for this moderately bright star in Monoceros the Unicorn is also the name of a 5th century BCE Greek doctor and historian, Ctesias of Cnidus, who was physician to the Persian ruler Artaxerxes II. Ctesias wrote mainly about rivers and the history of India, Persia and Assyria. Historians consider his account of Persian history (the Persica) notoriously unreliable.
