      looks like i'll have to use a friend's audio equipment to do this.
      for some reason i thought there were maybe plastic adapters to clip
      around the 3" CD to bring it to 5", like there used to be for
      different vinyl record spindles. or is this wishful thinking? no, the
      computer doesn't play mini-cds, but someone was kind enough to send
      some, and (without their current address) i've got no way of
      contacting them. thanks, all.

        adapters, of corse. now i seem to remember seeing some kind of clip

          Sony used to have adapters for the CD3's, but when the
          format failed in the U.S., they were gone. Most
          modern PC's are capable of playing CD3's, which is why
          the drives have the small indents that make it
          possible to do so.
