MS 304 - Some More Information
- In J.P.P. Martin's Introduction a la Critique textuelle du Nouveau Testament, Tome Second (1884), the author goes into a lot of detail about evidence pertaining to Mark 16:9-20. In notes beginning on page 290, he comments about MS 304, the only minuscule that is listed in NA27 as a witness for non-inclusion of Mk. 16:9-20.
Too bad I don't know French. And I can't always even discern what letters Martin wrote; the entire book is in a cursive font. Probably others on this list know French, though, and for them it should be pretty simple, if they'd like to take the trouble, to download J.P.P. Martin's book (it's the 640-page volume, not the other one, at Archive.org), and find page 290 (since all the pages in the download are in reverse-order, printed page 290 = page 296 when digitally counted, and printed page 291 = digitally counted page 295, and so forth).
It would be great to have a good English translation of the entire contents of pages 290-291. In the meantime, for your entertainment, here is a quick, rough attack:
"The commentary to the Anonymous Tolosanus, exists, in essence, in cursive 304 (manuscript 194 at Paris) fo. 167a-241. Each page has, in general, thirty-two lines, making a commentary of 4730 lines. And so, here it is, a volume of 150 pages of Greek text. The commentary begins with the notes:
ERMHNEIA EIS TO KATA MARKON EUANGELION - ARCH TOU EUAGGELIOU. _IU_ _CU_, UIOU TOU QEOU, WS GEGRAPTAI EN TOIS PROFHTAIS. KAI THI ORASEI, THS ANASTASEWS, OUDENI OUDEN EIPON, H TOUS IOUDAIOUS FOBOUMENAI. H UPO TOU FOBOU TON NOUN APOLESASAI (fo. 241, a). On the margin of the manuscript, symbols indicate which authors' excerpts have been quoted. There is cited - St. Cyril, Theodore of Heraclea, Origen, Photius, Eusebius, Severus, Theodore of Mopsuestia, Apollinarius, Athanasius, the searches [??] 231 left blank [??] - Chapter Five, 1 (f. 185, b) [i.e., 5:1 of Mark - JSJ] in the comment on GADARHNWN, he observes that that TA AKRIBESTERA TWN ANTIGRAYWN are GERGHSHNWN. [Apparently a reference to Origen's statement in Commentary on John, VI:41, where Origen advocates "Gergesenes." - JSJ]
Martin has other comments on pages 290-291 including the contents of something from page 364 of Possinus' text in which Eusebius' Ad Marinum is mentioned. --

On page 290, Martin says something about Possinus' anonymous commentary being sort of like two commentaries in one - Victor's, and another one, that is late enough to feature a recollection of a citation of Photius.
