Re: Mat 6:1 in Ephrem
No, and Burkitt didn't list Mt. 6:1 in the passages quoted in the genuine works of Ephrem in his 1901 "Ephrem's Quotations from the Gospels" (Texts & Studies VII:2). And Woods didn't include Mt. 6:1 in his list in Studia Biblica III, either.
This might be a citation-error; maybe he didn't mean Ephrem, or perhaps he was thinking of some other passage. I suppose the only way to find out for sure would be to sift through the six-volume (3 Greek, 3 Syriac) "Sancti Patris nostri Ephraem Syri Opera Omnia," etc.; hopefully there's an index.
Then if nothing turns up, sift through Overbeck's 1865 "S. Ephraemi Syri, Rabulae Episcopi Edesseni, Balaei Aliorumque Opera Selecta," etc. Maybe Burkitt saw something in Overbeck that he considered incorrectly attributed to Ephrem in 1901 but had changed his mind about by the time he wrote "Ev. Meph."
And then if nothing turns up, you could consult Lamy's "Sancti Ephraem Syri Hymni et Sermones," etc. Again, hopefully there's an index.
But it would be a lot of digging for such a little nugget.
