2956[textualcriticism] New Ending to the Gospel of Mark?

There is at least another book in the Bible that does not have the expected ending.
Malachi ends with 3:24 "He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to
their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse".
But if you take e.g. the text of the famous Codex Leningradensis, you will find that right after this
quite uncomfortable Finale, verse 23 is repeated again to smooth it up, as a 25th verse:
"Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and
terrible day of the LORD."
Again, this smoothing up is orthodox, satisfies pious expectations and the human longing
for harmony. The LE of Mark does the same, does'nt it? But the addition of the LE
, instead of increasing to, takes away from the dramatical peak, from the cutting edge of the
resurrection event. "Sometimes less is more". The same with Mal 3:25.

It is amazing just how many attempts have been made to
reach beyond Mark 16:8. Surely, the Gospel of Mark
ends at 16:8. But to the credit of those who have
argued for an extension beyond 16:8 (and these
extensions have been less than satisfactory) , it does
seem plausible that Mark 1:1-16:8 expects indeed hopes
for closure. In order for the textual critic to
perceive this, he must first understand what Mark is
saying. So, I would argue on a very precise level
that Mark expects his reader not only "to understand"
but to continue the work he began (hence, Matthew and
Luke). Therefore, those in the past who have written
"an ENDING" have done so with little success. That an
ending must come, however, is imminent. But who is
