      Dear Feleke,

Tecplot does not calculate the stream function for you, not does it have a handy feature for calculating the stream function.   There may be a way to calculate the stream  function, but you would have to use the Data/Alter/Specify Equations feature in Tecplot or perhaps the Analyzer (which has its own menu in Tecplot).

      Best Regards,

      Chris

      Hi Chris, Thanks.

I have tried to register. But for some reason, it did not allow me. I will try again.

I have  results from a 2D hydrodynamic model for a steady condition. The results are x,y,z,u, and V.

I have loaded this to tecplot and assigned the u and v a s vector. I want to plot the stream function (PSI), and tther corresponding values  of the stream function.  I appreciate your help

I know from steady state condition the streak lines and streamlines coincide.

      Dear Feleke,

We saw your email on Tecplot Talk and wanted to let you know that we are using a different Tecplot Talk site now.   Here is a link to it:

      http://www.tecplott alk.com/index. php

Please join us on this new Tecplot Talk site.  You will find addons you can download, different Forum to send questions to, and RSS feeds to keep track of what is happening.

With respect to the question you asked:

Would you please clarify what you mean by the “stream function”?   Do you mean the surface defined by the streamtraces, or the function  z = f(x,y)  that describes the surface defined by the streamtraces?

      Best Regards,

      Chris

I am using TECPLT to draw the streamlines( assuming they are the same as streaklines for steady conditions). My data contains x,y,z,u, and v.

      I have two questions.
      1) How to draw contour of the stream function? 2) How to get the values of the stream function using Tecplot?.
I appreciate any help in this respect.

      Feleke
