Group Description

Team DC is a charitable organization established to educate the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LBGT) community on the benefits of individual and team sports participation. Team DC works within the broader community to dispel discrimination against LGBT people participating in sports; endows and confers scholarships upon LGBT student-athletes; provides a network of sporting outlets for the LGBT community of the Washington Metropolitan area; and promotes participation in local, regional, national, and international amateur sports competitioins.



Team DC is also a member of the General Assembly in the Federation of Gay Games and coordinates the areas delegation to the Gay Games and Cultural Festival, which is held every four years.



Team DC is currently associated with and the following area sporting teams: Adventuring(Biking-Recreational/Hiking), Team DC Velo Cycling, Cheer DC Cheerleading, DC Sentinels Basketball, Capital Area Rainbowlers Association (CARA) Bowling, Lambda DanceSPORT DC, Monuments Flag Football, Lambda Links Golf, DC Nationals Ice Hockey, DC IceBreakers Ice Skating, DC Kickball, DC Strokes Rowing Club, Washington Renegades Rugby Football, DC Front Runners, Rainbow Spinnakers Sailing Club, Lambda Divers Scuba Diving, Federal Triangles Soccer Club, Chesapeake & Potomac Softball (CAPS), DC Aquatics Club (DCAC), Capital Tennis Association (CTA), Flaming Football On The Mall, Ultimate Out Frisbee, Rainbow Climbing League and Washington Wetskins Water Polo.
