Though I do not do taxidermy, I have a couple of important questions in regards to the
taxidermy process and what happens after almost ONE HUNDRED YEARS to a taxidermied
This is a taxidermied head/neck of a dog done in 1908 and it appears as a brown brindle.
some people are contending the brownish color (which is quite prevalent) is coming through
due to hair pigment loss. I can see that but the entire face is mostly golden brown with dark
tipping (like sable) in it.
What happens to black hair coat after 100 years? Does it become more golden, more
reddish, just a flat reddish black or?
Thanks for your time and hope someone will be able to answer me. I have NO idea how it
was taxidermied, I do know it was done in India in 1908.
