<<Giovanni suite; Taurus Base>>
*Telia got dressed with help from Nicky, she wore a short, loose fitting
dress of creamy beige and silver. She had made it clear to all crew going to
the wedding of Barrington and Mansley that it was civ clothes...no uni's.
She had her long hair hanging loose, held back from her face by a scarf that
matched the dress. She looked to Nicky as he got into his suit*
Telia: Ah know ya don' wanna go.... *she was resting in a chair, just
getting dressed making her a little tired. She still glowed though, cheeks
rounded, skin and hair shining from the hormones.*
Giovanni: I just never was one f' goin' t' weddin's where I didn't actually
feel happy f' th' couple gettin' married, Te. I've definitely never gone t'
a weddin' where I didn't like one of 'em. *He tucked his perfectly knotted
tie into the vest he wore under his jacket and ran a hand through his hair
to make it settle down just right.* Besides, we need t' be worryin' about
th' prep f' th' trial, not goin' t' Barrington's weddin'. We have three days
tops before they start in on ya n' Benny says it's not gonna be easy t' get
a list of charges that long dropped.
Telia: *Keeping the frustration from her voice* Nicky, we gotta show unity,
le' people see Ah blame th' king...not th' pawn. Mitchell ain' nothin' bu'
an abused kid finally gittin' free. *She had already sent her wedding gift
to the happy couple...a vacation to what she considered paradise...a cabin
on a lake in the heart of Texas, to be used whenever they had time for a two
G: I know that's how ya feel n' that's th' only reason I'm goin'. But I just
don' see me trustin' Barrington any time soon, Te.
*He'd been stressed enough looking over legal paperwork and hanging around
Benny enough that his Brooklyn accent was back in force. He had to work to
curb it when he was dealing in ship's business in Te's stead. Until this
trial was over the "traitor" couldn't have anything to do with even the
smallest detail of running her own ship. That left it all to him and Suvock.
Suvock was probably regretting his promotion to AXO by now. He'd not had a
decent leave since he'd taken it. There was always something to keep command
staff on duty even when they were supposed to be off.*
Telia: *She got up slowly and moved to kiss him* Ah'm glad ya love me...an
sorry life's been s' stressed. *She leaned into his arms, the only place she
really felt at peace since her arrest*
Giovanni: *sighing* Not y' fault, baby. *he kissed her forehead* This sucks,
though. I was lookin' forward t' ridin' th' bikes f' a week on leave. Now
we're stuck here.
Telia: Ah know...an Ah was lookin' at takin' naps in Daddy's chair.... *she
sounded so sad and wistful*
Giovanni: *smoothing her hair gently* As soon as we can, baby. I'm as
anxious as you are t' have real dirt under my feet.
Telia: *She sighed and pulled away, smoothing her dress.* Time ta start th'
slow waddle.... *she folded her arms like wings and made quacking sounds*
Giovanni: *chuckling* If you're a duck, y' th' sexiest one I've ever seen.
*Krista was fidgeting with the dress, picking and plucking, adjusting. She
fussed with her hair and kept checking her makeup.*
Mansley: (Makeup... I can't believe I let mom talk me into actual
makeup....) *She smirked slightly as she looked in the mirror for what felt
like the millionth time.*
*She couldn't recall ever feeling so nervous. Her stomach had been so
fluttery that she'd barely been able to suck down half a cup of coffee at
breakfast. Trying to put anything else in there would have just been asking
to embarrass herself.*
Betty: *Stilling her child's fluttering hands* Relax honey.... *she smiled
at Krista and squeezed her hands* You look beautiful.
Mansley: *a shaky shiver with the fidgeting stilled* I feel like I'm flying
apart inside. I've never felt like this... not even flying combat where I
almost bit the big one.
Betty: That's because you can't train or practice for marriage Kris. *she
adjusted the flowers in the bouquet and grinned softly* Trust me, when you
look into his eyes and recite those vows, all you will feel is awe and love.
*Mitchell was just as nervous, in fact he was in such a state he almost
placed his left shoe on his right foot. Franklin caught him and helped the
shook up young man finish dressing.*
Mansley: *sighing* I guess.... *She took a deep breath and held it, willing
herself to be calm.*
Betty: Honey...do you love Mitchell? Enough to make life's journey with him?
If you do, then think just about that, focus on the amazing journey you two
have in front of you. *Her mother spoke from experience, having been with
Lou since the first time she laid eyes on the young, brash Marine cadet. She
had been through months apart, nights spent walking the floors wondering if
he would be coming back walking or in a body bag. But through it all she
knew their love would last even beyond the grave...and she saw that love
between Kris and Mitchell.*
Mansley: *blinking back sudden tears* I do love him. I just... maybe it's a
form of stage fright. *She chuckled anxiously*
Betty: It's called 'cold feet'. *She gave her daughter a loving look*
Now...one last thing to complete your outfit. *She took a small box from her
purse and handed it to Kris. It was a necklace that every woman on Betty's
side of the family had worn on their wedding day for well over five hundred
years. It was a simple silver chain with a detailed silver tree pendent
hanging from it. It was said that the tree ensured a daughter would be
born...and so far it had worked.*
Mansley: *looking at it* It's beautiful....
Betty: *Putting it on her and kissing her cheek* I hoped I would not be the
one who ended it's career....
Lou: *Sticking his headin, pausing and swallowing hard* Baby? It's time. *He
stared at his little girl* You look beautiful. *He looked proud, even if,
like all dads, he was sad to hand his little princess over to another man.*
Mansley: *giving him a smile she reserved only for him* Thank you, Daddy.
*She took his arm and sucked in a deeper breath, letting it out slowly as he
led her to the doors at the back of the chapel. When the ushers opened them,
she swallowed a huge lump in her throat and slowly let her gaze travel up
the aisle to Mitchell. all she could do was stare. He was handsome and the
look of excitement and awe on his face only made him more handsome. She
smiled at him almost shyly. He'd never seen her this dressed up.*
*Mitchell stared back, eyes locked on the vision before him. She was always
beautiful to him, but at that moment she became a shining star, so bright
and beautiful that nothing could ever compare. Soft blue eyes caught hers
and he mouthed 'I love you'.
Telia was in the second row and everyone knew it. She had made a show of
coming in, and made damned sure that Lily had been just 'accidentally'
reporting on something nearby.*
*Kris mouthed the words back to him, cursing the tears the kept trying to
Mansley: (I'm not going to cry.... Not in front of all of these people.
Marines don't cry in front of a crowd.)
*She'd honestly been surprised at how many people had shown up. She'd
figured no one would. Granted, the groom's side was almost empty... but the
bride's side was actually full, mostly with Marines. She caught sight of
Hollister sitting there looking like a gorilla uncomfortably crammed into a
suit as she averted her gaze from Mitchell for a moment to blink back the
tears. The sight made her have to stifle a snicker*
Mansley: (Poor Mike.... It was sweet of him to come.) *Her eyes went back to
Mitchell and she was fascinated all over again* (He's going to be all
mine.... Lucky me.)
*The rest of it seemed to pass like a dream. She drowned in his eyes as they
faced each other and spoke their vows. Then she melted as they kissed. She
managed not to cry. And when the priest presented them as man and wife, she
felt like she was flying without benefit of her fighter.*
*Mitchell was in awe. In his arms was something he never thought he would
have...a loving wife in all sense of the word. He refused to let her move
far from him, too afraid she would vanish, making all this a dream.*
*Photos of everyone were quickly taken. They'd arranged to have their
reception in one of the larger halls at the cultural center. It looked
almost like a parade as they passed through the Promenade to the center.
Most people stared in curiosity. Some scowled openly at Mitchell and Kris.
But none dared make a wrong move. Base security was on hand along their path
to ensure safe passage. She leaned lightly against Mitchell as they walked,
content and feeling absolutely whole.*
Mansley: Can we stay in this dream forever? *her voice was for Mitchell
Barrington: *Lips warm against her ear* Yes my beautiful wife. *He was aware
of the scowls, the looks of hate, but he didn't care. He had Kris, his
mother and for the first time in his life, a real family. Life was good.*
*Telia insisted on going to the reception for a brief time. She was getting
tired, but had to see this through. Once everyone was settled she stood and
tapped her glass to get everyone's attention*
*Kris hadn't been surprised at the captain being there. What had surprised
her was the commander's presence. She wouldn't have thought he would come.
He'd made it all too clear he hated Mitchell for what he'd done, no matter
what the reason behind it. She turned her attention to Telia with everyone
else, giving her a small smile of thanks.*
Telia: Ah wanna toast th' newlyweds. *She held up her glass of ice water*
T'day ya'll started a path tha'll be one o' joy, laughter, passion, tears
and surprises. Never go ta bed pissed, never f'rget ta say 'Ah love ya' and
never, ever take a single second f'r granted. Ah wish ya'll th' best...an'
Ah look forward ta watchin' ya'll change an' grow as people an' officers.
*Mitchell was stunned by her coming and he knew why the Commander was at her
side...because he loved her and would never let her wander about in her
condition alone...Mitchell knew he would feel the same way under the
*When the toasting was done, she mouthed a thank you to the Captain. Soon
enough it was time for her to have her first dance with Mitchell and then on
to the rest of the festivities. It passed in a blur. She was grateful when
it was time to go back to their quarters. She was getting antsy at being in
the dress for so long.*
*Mitchell had wanted to thank the Captain, but one venomous look from
Dominic had stayed him from approaching. As the evening wound down, he was
as anxious as Kris to get back to their suite...he wanted her out of the
dress too...for different reasons. He wanted her so badly he actually
*Had they not had a security escort, they might have been warming up on the
way to their rooms. But there was no way Krista was going to make out with
the goon squad present. She settled for resting contentedly in his arms as
they rode the lift.*
Krista: *a soft sigh* Poor Daddy. I thought he was going to lose it and boo
hoo in front of everyone. That would have embarrassed him terribly.... *She
mocked his voice* Marines don't cry.... *she chuckled softly* At least not
in front of a crowd like that anyway. Mom says he cried every time she had
a baby, though.
Barrington: *Snuggling her close* He gave me one piece of advice. 'Never
mess up so badly that a kiss and chocolates won't fix it.' *He chuckled and
kissed her temple* And as for crying...did you see our mothers and the
Captain? All three crying so hard I almost felt bad!
Krista: Yeah. But moms and pregnant women have all rights to crying at
weddings. *She smiled up at him lovingly, still feeling like this was a
dream. He eyes sparkled as she looked up at him.* I almost cried when I saw
how handsome you were waiting for me at the other end of the aisle.
Barrington: *eyes shining with joy as he whispered in her ear* All I saw was
this shining vision coming toward me, looking back at me with love. I love
you Mrs. Barrington.
Krista: *kissing him tenderly* And I love you, Mr., Barrington. *She was
grateful when the lift stopped and they made their way towards their
quarters. The kiss and closeness was making her sense his desire and it was
stirring up her own.*
*Once inside they found themselves looking at a fantasy. Candles were
everywhere, soft music played and the room was littered with thick pillows
and soft throws. On the coffee table sat a bucket with sparkling cider in it
and a note laying beside it.*
Krista: *a snicker as she picked up the note* Someone's been busy....
*The note was from Kendra. 'I wanted your honeymoon to be as magickal as
possible, congratulations and be happy.' Mitchell had also found a stasis
tray loaded with expensive delicacies, carefully chosen to suit both their
Barrington: I'd heard she was a special woman, this proves it.
Krista: *smiling* She is. She had to be to hook Dariel. *She grinned as she
looked around at it all.* Wherever do we start, handsome husband? *a beat*
Well... after we get comfortable anyway. I don't know about you, baby, but
I've had enough dressing up for a whole year today.
Barrington: *coming up behind her, nuzzling her neck* Then let me help you
into something more comfortable. *He began to undo the pearl buttons, each
one undone getting her a nibble, a kiss or a whispered endearment*
Krista: *leaning into him with a soft sound of pleasure* I like this kind of
help. *She began to return the favor.* (God, he's so sexy. I wonder if he
realizes how he makes me melt just looking at me like that?)
*She'd done a bit more shopping without the mothers to find what she wore
under the dress: snow-white silk lingerie complete with old fashioned
stocking and garters. There were bits of sparkling beadwork and lace in
places, just enough to entice without being uncomfortable or gaudy.*
*When the dress fell away Mitchell gasped. Staring at her he whispered*
Barrington: I will always see you like this when I close my eyes at night
and dream...so beautiful...so...sensual. *He wore, at Franklin's insistence,
silk boxers of shimmering black, the feel of which had not made his day any
easier to handle. He was...aroused by the feel of the silk and combining
that with his desire for Kris....*
Krista: *shivering as she caressed him through the silk* You are so sexy....
I'll never get tired of seeing you, making love with you, waking up in your
arms.... I love you so much. *Her silk clad body brushed against him as she
nuzzled his neck.*
*He kissed her with all the love and passion he possessed, lowering them
both the piles of pillows. Eager fingers undid snaps, rolled away stockings
until she lay nude beside him. He caressed her skin with delicate touches,
awed all over again by the sight of her.*
*She responded to his touches with equal ardor, touching, nibbling,
caressing, teasing and whispering against his skin how much she treasured
him. Even with the very real sensations, it still felt like a dream to her.*
*He was floating on a cloud. He didn't notice the passing of time, all that
mattered was making love with his lovely wife*
Barrington: *somewhere in the back of his mind* (Wife...I'm married...I have
all I will ever need.) *When they finally lay in each other's arms,
breathless and sated he tugged a soft as a sigh throw over them and snuggled
Krista: *snuggling close, pleasantly floaty* I love you, Mitch. *she
giggled* I guess the Marines are just going to have to miss me at dinners.
Like hell I'm staying on Marine decks. Your quarters are MUCH nicer than
Barrington: I'm afraid they're rather sterile and barren. *He sounded
horribly embarrassed* This suite makes mine look like an empty set of rooms.
Krista: *giving him a loving look* We can work on that... if you want to.
It's not like I'm the queen of interior decorating or anything. Marine
quarters are too small to decorate. I'm used to just what's needed and grey
Barrington: Maybe we could ask Lt. Maruk for help? I'm no good at
decorating either. *He snuggled her closer and sighed happily* Aren't we a
Krista: *she snickered* I didn't fall in love with your sense of interior
design, you know. All that matters is we're both comfortable where we live.
Once I get used to the bigger space, I'll probably want some decorations.
Until then, it's a non-issue.
Barrington: I guess I just want it to finally be a home. *He looked wistful*
I've never really had one of those.
Krista: *nuzzling his cheek* Home is here *she touched his chest over his
heart* and here. *she touched her own chest* That's all we really need.
*He looked at her with a gaze that was stunned and humbled. He kissed her, a
kiss of love and affection.*
Barrington: Wise and beautiful...I am a very lucky man.
Krista: *blushing and shaking her head* Not wise... just raised in a good
family that knew that.
Barrington: *Kissing her blushing cheeks* A Marine who blushes, do you know
how adorable that is? *He was teasing her, something he had yet to do, a
sign of his relaxed state*
Krista: *rolling her eyes and letting out a soft snort* Only when you act
like I'm the greatest thing since warp drive. *She playfully licked the end
of his nose.*
*He laughed and found himself licking her eyebrows, just to make her laugh.*
Krista: GAH! *she tickled his ribs in self defense, laughing.*
*They ended up rolling all over the pillow littered floor tickling and
laughing. They ended up by the table where the food and the cider waited for
Barrington: *Still chuckling* It feels good to laugh....
Krista: *kissing him, still giggling* Mhmm. Almost as good as pouncing
Barrington: *Blushing* Ummm...yeah. *He looked so shy at times....* Let's
eat before soaking in a tub of hot water...indulge now before going back to
Krista: *cupping his cheek* I'm not the only one that looks cute blushing.
Barrington: I don't think I will ever get used to talking about sexual
things. *He cooled his hot cheeks by turning to pour cider and grab the tray
Krista: You'll get used to it eventually. *She grinned* Sometimes it turns
me on to just talk dirty.
Barrington: *almost choking on his cider* Oh...really? *He turned deep red.
He hardly ever thought bad words, much less used them*
Krista: *a saucy little smile* Yeah. Sometimes just hearing a guy whisper
what he wants to do to me in my ear turns me on.
Barrington: *It was suddenly slammed home how their different experience
levels might become an issue. He just wasn't sure he could ever talk like
that.* It does? (I can't say things like that...how long before it bothers
*The evening ended in more love-making, then curling up like puppies, sound
asleep. Mitchell was never aware that such happiness existed...and never
imagined that he of all people would feel it.*
