Doesn't this Mirza Cetinkaya know that:

      1. The name of the state he is writing about is TATARSTAN? Not some sort of Tataria?  Amazing to see such ignorance from a Turk.

      2. Tatarstan is not an "Autonomous Republic", but a sovereign state under Russian colonial occupation? That Tatarstan issued the Declaration of Sovereignty?  That Tatarstan has been under constant assault from Moscow ever since?

Looks like a translation of an article from a Russian provincial newspaper from a town with a population of a couple of thousand people, not like a Turkish publication.

"Russia's "Peace Disctrict"" - I would recommend Mirza better not to write at all about Tatarstan than to write such humiliating and heavy-handed stuff.

Russia's Peace District Tataria Celebrates 1000th Year with Enthusiasm

The Tatar Autonomous Republic that made great progress with social, political and economic reforms one after the other resembles a peace district within the Russian Federation.

Tataria has recently attracted the world's attention with activities that were held for the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the establishment of the capital, Kazan.

Policies that Mintemir Sheimiev, President of Tataria with its rich energy resources, implemented without disputing with Moscow increases the republic's economic and political power.

Tataria is vitally important for Russia for its solidarity and cooperation with Islamic countries, as well as its rich oil resources. Observers define Tataria as the "only republic" now that lives in peace without having disputes with other ethnic structures and religions.

Tataria's population of four million is composed of Muslim Tatars at 51.3 percent, Russians at 40 percent and various other ethnic and religious groups. Eleven presidents and several delegations from various countries took part in the 1000th anniversary celebrations co-organized by the federal center and the local Tataria administration.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin spoke in Tataria at the opening of the celebrations.

"Tataria playing a huge role in Russia's business life continuously increases its economic and political efficiency," said Putin.

The historical town of trade and culture, Kazan's face was also completely changed in the frame of the 1000th anniversary celebrations. Before the celebrations, the biggest mosque in Europe (Kul Sherif), an Orthodox Church and a synagogue were opened in Kazan.

Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) leaders and foreign guests visited the buildings symbolizing the three celestial religions.

All the streets and old buildings were a make over and new business centers, bus stations, terminals and an airport were opened.

The Tatar Republic's relations with Turkey develop gradually.

Many Turkish companies function in Tataria in different fields, but mainly in the construction and textile sectors. Joint educational institutions opened by Turkish entrepreneurs continue functioning successfully.

Although the Tupras contract in which the Tatar company Tatneft took part was cancelled by a court decree, Tatar businessmen, too, seem to be keen to take advantage of the economic opportunities in Turkey.

In addition, Turkey is one of the rare countries having a permanent consulate in Kazan. State Minister Besir Atalay represented Turkey in the historical celebrations held in Kazan.
