Russia expels Pakistani for extremist propaganda

      Moscow, Sept. 20 Bloomberg

Russia expelled a Pakistani citizen for spreading ``extremist''
interpretations of Islam in the Russian republic of Tatarstan, Russian news
agency Interfax reported, citing the Tatar State Security Committee. The
Pakistani was arrested after encouraging young Muslims to travel to religious
training camps in Pakistan. The Tablig Muslim organization, to which he
belongs, was allegedly propagating ``religious fanaticism'' and ``pan-Islamic
      sentiments,'' the agency said.

Russia, which suffered a series of terrorist attacks in residential areas of
Moscow last week, has been fighting Islamic rebels who hope to restore an
independent Islamic state encompassing the republics of Chechnya and Dagestan
      provinces.
