Uyghur Human Rights Coalition Presentation at the Stompin' Grounds Coffee
House in Washington, DC:
THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT'S EGREGIOUS HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS AGAINST THE
UYGHURS OF THE XINJIANG UYGHUR AUTONOMOUS REGION
The Uyghurs are the indigenous Turkic Muslim people of the Xinjiang Uyghur
Autonomous Region of China (known to the Uyghurs as East Turkistan). For
decades, they have protested the Chinese government's policies of political
repression, religious and cultural persecution, racial discrimination, and
colonization. Since September 11, the crackdown on the Uyghurs has
intensified, as the Chinese government tries to falsely portray the Uyghurs'
political dissent as terrorism and as it tries to use America's war on
terrorism to justify its oppressive policies against the Uyghurs.
Come hear several Uyghurs' accounts of the Chinese government's horrific
human rights violations against the Uyghur people. Find out what you can do
to help end the Uyghurs' suffering.
