          Hello Gayle et al:

I am more than happy to answer this one. I was in Tarnobrzeg this summer
          visiting my cousin.

There is bus service, which is quite good. The road to Sandomierz is quite
good and does not take that long, by car.

I am not sure of pond or lake either, but the Vistula flows through and is
quite large. Possible reason of seeing a large body of water with bull
rushs. There is a public trail along river, also ferry and parks. There is
also a castle that is a private school now. At the back is lots of
overgrown weeds and brush, and reeds as well.

As for going back, take me to please.

          Allan C.

Hello: If I could take the liberty of answering Gayle s question on this message as well regarding searching. I did not search any records when I was there.

              Hello:

If I could take the liberty of answering Gayle's question on this message as
              well regarding searching.

I did not search any records when I was there. My cousin through the
translator advised me not to try. You see the situation is that I do not
have any paper proof of my direct family connection, and she advised me that
is what I needed. She was basing this on experience that my father had when
visiting in 1975. Now to add to that, my research would be in Ozaraw, where
records are for the Cmielow area. I only meant to answer the part of the
question as to getting around, and by bus is quite good if not excellent
compared to here. Now having said that, let me qualify that bus's there are
not like here (antique in comparison - no air conditioning). I am refering
to cost (quite cheap) and availabilty to just about anywhere there is a
road. There was a situation with some teachers I was with, where the bus
driver dropped them off in the middle of no-where and waited until the
teachers found somebody to continue there journey off the beaten track - try
and get service like that here. BTW the train from Kracow would be good and
inexpensive as well, but be careful when getting on and off, that is when
pick pockets and such usually try to do their dirty work.

Thanks Marek for trying to help with the search engine. I'll wait and see
what happens this week and if no response, I'll send a letter.

We walked around from where my cousin lives, a large complex of apartments.
Down to a main road (that went to Sandomierz) crossed the road and went down
to this castle of Tarnobrzeg. Around the castle (fighting off mosquitos),
then down a few streets past what looked like a small square house with lots
of noise coming out, it was a casino! From there we walked to the river
through some park, along the river to the ferry crossing. From there we
went along a street past movie theatre, police station, and lots of other
neat old buildings. Finally back to the street that leads to my cousin's
apartment. I couldn't tell you the name of any street I was on. Oh yes had
a beer in the middle of the town square, quite large and very empty.
Tarnobrzeg is going through high un-employment due to the closing of the
sulpher mine near by (open pit -huge). Never seen a bus station there. Did
my bus and train travel around Rzeszow and Krackow.
