Sandomierz Archive and Kansas City, Kansas
- (1) Provided here are instructions to access records at the Sandomierz Archives that are available on-line.
"To get access to it You have to first register on the
page http://genpol.com/ and then (using the same login and password) to the page http://metryki.genbaza.pl/ ; there You find AP_Sandomierz and after clicking it You will have access to some data from parishes of this region...."
The Archives in Sandomierz has selected records for churches near Tarnobrzeg, such as some, but not all, records for the Roman Catholic parishes of Wielowieś, Miechocin, and others near Tarnobrzeg. These have been valuable in my genealogical research.
I am aware that there are also records for the Wielowieś parish in the Przemyśl Archives, but they are not available on-line. I had to hire a professional genealogist to access them.
(2) There were among Poles from the Tarnobrzeg area who settled in Kansas City, Kansas, between about 1900 and 1914, and formed the parish of St. Joseph. For example, my father's parents were Łukasz Sajwaj born in Zakrzów and Anna Ordyk born in Dzików.
Lukasz's parents were Adam Sajwaj and Ewa Michalska of Zakrzów in Wielowieś parish. Anna's parents were Marcin Ordyk and Marianna Wiącek of Dzików in the Miechocin parish.
I will shorty post a document that will a list of surnames from St. Joseph Church.
I can assist anyone interested to pursuing records and/or relatives there.
