Group Description

Failte!

TACOMA CELTIC PLAYERS (TCP) was started in 2002 by Jamie Marshall. TCP consisted of a group of musicians who maintained an express interest in Celtic and Irish music and history. For 5 years, the Intermediate/Advanced Irish Trad session in Puyallup was held the 1st and 3rd SUNDAY of the month from 2pm-5pm.

In 2007, A lack of participation from the already established group of (on average-25 musicians) and an excess increase of beginner-level musicians led the aforementioned established musicians to seek sessions, and solace (NOT Solas!-It's a musician joke) elsewhere...

Shortly thereafter, our family-friendly, air-conditioned, salad-bar-and-a beer-venue was converted to a bar/nightclub which successfully put any hope of restruturing the TCP.

Consequently, the group was never re-formed.

Today, the group is defunct-Should there be an increased interest in the future, the group may form again! Certainly some assistance will be required as doing it by myself as it became a part-time job.

There are still some session groups in the area- In Olympia, you will find one at "Plenty's", another exists for slow-players at "The Antique Sandwich Shop" in Ruston, and still another at Fado in Seattle on Sundays.

GOOD LUCK!

A current song list is still accessable on this website, and is a great reference for musicians who are new to session playing. All you need to do is join!

SLAINTE!
