Notes: Sat, June 4, 2011 launch 7am from Bokeelia, paddle to Cayo Pelau (rest or paddle around) then paddle back to Bokeelia 12-14 miles round trip (5-6 mile open water each way). This trip is for paddlers capable of paddling 3-4 mph over long distances, Sea Kayaks only, skirts, pfds, pumps, paddle floats, food, water (bring tow ropes, flares, radios if you've got them)

Cayo Pelau is is an uninhabited island of 126 acres that lies mostly in extreme northwest corner of Lee County (Google maps: Cayo Pelau, FL). I've paddled to this island from Placida and Boca Grande but why drive for 75-90 minutes when you paddle there.
