Silicon Valley SpeakUp (SVSpeakup) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving foreign-born community in Silicon Valley. Our mission is to be the top-notch institute that helps members to improve their soft skills to succeed in life. We offer activities on a wide range of topics on personal development - public speaking, active listening, negotiation, leadership, cultural differences between the East and the West - vital skills that promote self-actualization and life management, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding, and contribute to our society.

Effective communication skills are critical to one's success in career and family life. With a passion of helping fellow foreign-born professionals, Karen Jia founded SVSpeakUp in 1998. Following her footsteps, Richard Lin, Wendy Ding, Jin Wen and Christina Yip Chung served as subsequent Presidents. Our current President is Gordon Ao.



SVSpeakUp is very proud of its Core Team who are intellectuals with a passion to learn and grow. Core Team members work closely together to achieve the mission of the organization. We learn from the experience and from our peer team members. We are friends with warm hearts who are devoted to self-improvement and who strive to make a difference for the community.

We are constantly looking for passionate volunteers who has the aspiration to lead and to serve the community while having an opportunity to dramatically speed up your own learning experience in life and expand into a huge network.
