I asked some folks here at Google with Palm Pre's to try out the
      following two URLs:

      http://codinginparadise.org/temp/ny1.svg
      http://crowdfx.com/tiger.svg

The first one only showed text, and the second one gave an error that
no application can handle that type. It looks like WebOS doesn't
      support SVG :(

I've noticed a disturbing trend where the mobile folks (Android and
now WebOS) trim out the Webkit SVG implementation, perhaps to save
space (I believe it takes around 200K). That's too bad.

Thanks for your comments, Jeff. I found that this is a problem in Chrome
too, and that the inference that it is a webkit bug is supported by

        https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17744

which bug is bafflingly labelled "unconfirmed", having been reported in
        March 2008.

I am going to try the chromium-browser on my 32-bit Ubuntu box and see
        what webkit does there.

        Regards to all,
