          Why does the onclick event NOT WORK when placed in the defs and then
          included in a use tag?

          For example this works:
          <svg>
          <defs>
          </defs>
          <g>
          <g onclick="alert('MIKE');">
          <use xlink:href="#appBackground" x="0" y="0"/>
          <use xlink:href="#titleBar" x="0" y="0"/>
          </g>
          </g>
          </svg>

          This does not work:
          <svg>
          <defs>
          <g id="thisbutton" onclick="alert('MIKE');">
          <use xlink:href="#appBackground" x="0" y="0"/>
          <use xlink:href="#titleBar" x="0" y="0"/>
          </g>
          </defs>
          <g>
          <use xlink:href="#thisbutton" x="0" y="0"/>
          </g>
          </svg>

                  Interesting!

                  He does not refer to the &begin as an attribute of a use element rather an
                  ENTITY, but what you have done still works?

                    You know chris,
                    as i said in one of my emails today, i begun svg last summer (4
                    months).
                    90% of the questions i answer, when i read them, i still haven't
                    answer to them.
                    My method : I surf, understand, try, and answer. May be fast ! not
                    not a lot.

                    This forum is a good school for me to learn svg. And my method is to
                    try to solve problems, because when the solution is given by another,
                    it's always trivial.

                    I want to thank you for the discossion of today about ripple. It was
                    really enriching for me.

                    Sometimes, i make english mistakes, so i'm sorry.

                    I thought to halloween too, and found some swf files. I tried to
                    convert them to svg, withiut success (cgi-bin of the url broken).

                    I'll try tomorrow and if it's ok, i'll send you the results.

                    Bye
                    Mathias

                        Bye
                        Mathias

                                          children defined by use (my manual propagation).
