Subject: [AUS-NSW] World War 1 Diaries at the Australian War Memorial

      Hi all,
I've just been looking at the AWM website trying to find information on our
local cenotaph (no luck so far) - but while browsing the site, I came across

a section on the Diaries kept for the individual Battalions. I didn't find
my grandfather's name mentioned in the 15th Battalion records on the days I
know he was shot at Gallipoli, I haven't looked at the Western Front yet
(individuals don't seem to be mentioned in the diary I am searching through,

no idea if they're all the same) but an account of the battle at Gallipoli
made interesting and emotional reading. I think these diaries are fairly
new additions to the site, as I haven't come across them before, so posting
in case anyone else is researching their WW1 soldier's background.
      http://www.awm.gov.au/units/ww1.asp
Click onto the appropriate unit, and then scroll down towards the bottom of
the page, and you will find the link to the Unit Diary highlighted in blue
under References if there is a diary available, broken down into Year and
Month order. Thank you AWM for providing another wonderful family history
      resource.
