Bermuda Renewable and Alternative Energy Workshop
- Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Government of Bermuda will be hosting a workshop on renewable and
alternative energy technologies for small islands on 5th to 6th June 2000
at the Bermuda Biological Station for Research, St. George's, Bermuda.The aim of the workshop is to examine renewable and alternative energy technologiesthat will promote net economic and environmental benefits with applicability to small islands such as Bermuda. The workshop will feature the presentation of
technical papers and panel discussions by both Bermudian and overseas
experts, and a poster presentation by Bermuda-based energy conservation and
renewable resource organisations.
The workshop follows in the spirit of the United Nations 1994 Barbados
Declaration-Action Plan for Small Island Sustainable Development. The
results of the workshop will be forwarded to the Intergovernmental Group of
Experts on Energy and Sustainable Development and also will be incorporated
into the Special United Nations Session Commission on Sustainable
Development (Sustainable Energy) April 2001.
