Wired Words – A Writers’ Festival In New Media
The first annual Federation of BC Writers festival to be held in Victoria , BC , will take place on September 10th, 2011, from 10 am – 5 pm. The subject matter - social media and new technological opportunities for writers – will provide a contrast with the venue, the beautiful heritage courtroom of the Maritime Museum of BC. Writers of all genres (emerging or professional) are invited to register for this full day of seminars.
“As online venues, new publishing technologies, and social media become more relevant to writers, education becomes essential. We want to empower BC’s writing community and provide the tools and skills to help each individual writer publish and promote their work,” said Alison Gair, Islands Region Representative of the Federation of BC Writers. “These technologies also make sharing your work simpler than ever before.”
The workshops offered at this first annual festival include: e-publishing, print-on-demand publication, social media for writers, blogging, Youtube, and film editing for writers. For more information on workshop topics or to purchase event tickets, visit www.wiredwords.org.
