Nat Young appeared on every young surfer's radar in 1966/67 when he won
the World Championships of surfing. His new, power-oriented surfing
style was based on surfing a shorter board than what was traditionally
in use at the time and literally changed the way people surfed and
looked at the sport of surfing forever.

Nat and a handful of friends became the genesis of short board surfing
that is now such a large part of the Action Sports market worldwide.
Today he is arguably the most famous surfer in the world, yet remains a
man devoted to his family and humbled by his success. He has been an
      inspiration to athletes worldwide.*
Nat's unique style enabled him to become World Longboard Champion in
1988, 1989, and 1990. He also won the Smirnoff Contest in Hawaii in
1972, and has been Australian junior and open champion several times.*
He is the author of six books on surfing including his autobiography,/
      "Nat's Nat, and That's That."/ He also wrote the how-to-surf book,/
"Surfing Fundamentals."/ Nat has produced two films and is the sports
      most recognized and eloquent emissary.*
*The new edition of/ "The Complete History of Surfing -- From Water to
Snow"/ is published by Gibbs Smith Publishing in America, contains two
new chapters and numerous new photographs.** In the book Nat covers the
roots of surfing, the Hawaiian revival, the heyday of the hollow board,
evolution of the modern board, the age of surf clubs, world
championships, the birth of professionalism, surfer girls.*
*The two new chapters are "From Water to Snow," which tells the story of
how and why surfers invented the snowboard."Attitude and Hardcore
Alternatives," how a sail was added and how the sail ended up as a kite.
This colorful, hardcover edition utilizes rare reproductions of early
Hawaiian illustrations and Australian surfing. It also includes
