Sufism is the topic of this international discussion group. See "Sufism, Sufis, Sufi Orders" at www.uga.edu/islam/Sufism.html . "God is beautiful and loves beauty" is the guideline of the group (stated in Arabic in the headline), moderated by Dr. Godlas and other Sufis. We do have one major border: discussions must be conducted with mutual respect. Consistent lack of respect for other members is not tolerated. Presume your knowledge is limited and that there are many different approaches to Sufism. Members who attempt to delegitimize particular religions, prophets, Sufi shaykhs, Sufism, or anyone's supportive view of them may be banned, as may members who criticize postings with comments such as "this is dangerous, haram, or not Sufism" or who give unsolicited advice, telling people what Sufis must do or not do or what they should or should not say, or who threaten members or label them with offensive names or suggest that they leave. This is not a forum for discussing shari'ah and 'aqida (religious dogma). If you have questions in these areas, ask to receive answers offline. To give unsolicited advice or possibly disturbing information about shaykhs, do it by private email, but first ask individuals privately if they want your information. If you like debates, post at our "Sufism, Politics, and Debates" group (see our links list). Translate into English non-English words. If you notice anyone violating rules, inform the moderators privately. No one has permission to post any postings (or their content) from this group outside the group in any form without the explicit signed consent of the original poster. Moderators may delete postings. If you don't like the high email volume, go to *Edit Membership* and choose "no email." To join, state your reason(s) in less than 200 characters; and use the words Sufism or Sufi (to diminish spam). Joining this group implies agreement with these guidelines.
