- Hi All,
Geesh - Just when you thought it was safe to go back onto the roadway!
Now we find out that the nice folks at the Treasury Department have a
"different" interpretation of the word "hobbyist". Seems as though that
trips off alarm bells there and they think "hobbyists" are in business
(for-profit) enterprises as in a "hobby farm". So - if you say you are a
"hobbyist" chances are good you will be investigated by them.
So, we are now all "community involved" or "community engaged" people.
This meets their definition of those who are not in it for the money and
they will leave you alone. It is a lot like the difference between a
"creamer bomb" and a "pyrotechnic flame effect", there really is no
difference, one only sounds better than the other.
So, it's back to the drawing board and rewrites all around. Any letters
of proclamation about what we do from now on had best not have the word
"hobbyist" in it.
Shades of George Orwell.
