      Artica Winter Solstice Celebration
      will be heldon
      Saturday, December 22 from
      noon until midnight.

The location is the area on
      Lewis between Dickson and O'Fallon.
If you don't know where Lewis is,
hopefully you know where the Arch is
      or the Mississippi River.
The road that runs betweeen the Arch
      and the Mississippi Riveris called
Leonore K. Sullivan Drive, as you go
north on it, past Eads Bridge,
past Lacledes Landing, past the casinos
it changes it's name to Lewis.
When Lewis dead ends you are at Artica.
It's about 1/2 mile north of the Arch.

To honor the shortest day of the year
      and celebrate the increasing light
we will build the Oak King in order to
defeat the Holly King in their cosmic
      struggle.
Of course when the Oak Kings is
victorious we will burn him at 6:00pm.

The festival starts at noon and come on
down to help set up, create art work
      and build the Oak King.

Artica is a participatory art festival
held in an urban wasteland. Wear sturdy
shoes and clothing appropriate for the
weather. Bring what you need to be
      comfortable in this environment. Bring
shelter from the elements if you desire.

Bring firewood if you can for warming
      barrels in designated areas.

Bring food and warm beverages to share
      if you're generous.

Bring work gloves if you want to help create art.

Bring extra garden hoses is you can,
and mark them with your name,
      and fire extinguishers.

      Bring an open mind, a
      sense of responsibility and a
      self-reliant spirit.
Take your trash with you as
this a leave no trace behind event.

for Saturday is less than promising.
          Unfortunately, we really don't have
any recourse if the rain gods are
          less than agreeable.

          The experience will be
          whatever it will be.
