RE: [stleampunk] Upcoming Events and Exciting News!
- I was cleaning out my e-mail box and stumbled upon this e-mail. Here is the most up-to-date information I have access to about Steampunk events at Archon:Archon and the St. Louis Costumer's Guild is hosting a second Steampunk fashion show on Friday night. The Guild's proposed time is 6:50p.m. but we have not gotten confirmation that this time will happen. We would be delighted for any and all adventurers to bring their finest gear, gowns, and personas to share with our delighted audience. Last year this event was standing room only it was so popular! There will also be a Gadgets and Gizmos panel happening Saturday afternoon, I believe the proposed time was 2:50p.m. but again, we are waiting on confirmation. This panel is a show-and-tell format where designers discuss the processes for creating their accessories, blinky devices, time travel capacitors, and more! There's the update from the redhead who lives under a rock.:)

> I'm proposing a gathering on August 21st.
> Shall we...
> ...visit the Museum of Transportation?
> ...Have tea at a local establishment (such as La Bonne Buchee?)
> ...Visit The Magic House in downtown Kirkwood?
> ...Experience an eastern tradition and have Dim Sum at Wei Hong on Olive?
> Speak up if you wish to attend, and which event interests you!
> Archon approaches, and in case you haven't heard it has moved to the Westport area! I will once again host the annual Mad Scientists' Tea Party, but beware that the Mad Hatter may be there to hijack the event with his hijinks!
> The Tea Party will happen on Friday at approximately 4pm, which in Archon Time translates to 3:50. Steampunks who wish to bring a dish to share are encouraged to do so, and bring them at about 3:30.
> I also encourage well-prepared Adventurers to bring their own tea cup and saucer. I would even be comfortable with whole tea sets being brought; the hotel is providing the hot water so you could fill a teapot and share a favorite exotic tea with your table!
> I know that there will be some other Steampunk adventures at Archon. Does anyone on the list know what is being planned?
> Two weeks after Archon will be the nearly-annual Goblin Ball put on by Tricia's Treasure Chest. This year's location is about to be revealed, which means that STLeampunks will be the first to know:
> Just north of Page Avenue on North and South, between Washington and Madison is a sweet little park with many picnic tables and a grand Gazebo. This is where the Goblin Ball of 2010 will be held! We will gather at about 4pm for tricks and treats, activities and of course music and dancing.
> At sunset, there will be a costumed parade down the street for the costume contest and spooky entertainment!
> The Goblin King's chief engineer has become enamored with Steampunk and is offering a special prize to the finest Steampunk ensemble presented!
> I am also going to let another cat out of the bag:
> In November (date TBA) Jackman's Fabrics will be hosting a Steampunk Fashion Show and Workshop!
> We will be soliciting entries for the fashion show between mid-August and late October. If you are not interested in showcasing your finery on the catwalk, please feel free to attend (either in costume or incognito) and support your local Steampunk designers. Everyone will then get to make a unique steampunk accessory in the Sewing Machine Department!!
> As soon as we get our official flyer together, I will send out the electronic version.
> I hope that this generates some excitement!
