More DVD Madness
Three new DVD releases before Christmas are of interest to
SM fans. First off, Joe Gould's Secret, which screened in
the US last May, was released on DVD this week. Also, Steve
narrates for the Disney animated blockbuster Fantasia 2000,
available from Nov 14. And finally, Planes, Trains and
Automobiles is due for release in the new format on Nov 21,
and includes scenes deleted from the original movie.

No More Standup
Naturally Steve's plugging 'Shopgirl' with its release this
week, and ABCNews.com's The Wolf Files has a great story
right now on Steve's goal to be recognized as a writer.
Sadly, Steve says his standup days are over: "I know it
sounds cliché, but it was the most miserable time in my
life," he says. "I couldn't leave my hotel room, I couldn¹t
go outside. I was isolated, and isolation is where
creativity ends."

Carl Reiner Tribute
Steve Martin will join Jerry Seinfeld, Dick Van Dyke, Mary
Tyler Moore and others to pay tribute to veteran comic
actor-writer-producer Carl Reiner when he receives the Mark
Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center for
Performing Arts, Washington, on Oct 24.

Steve Gets Literary
AP has an interview with Steve talking about his writing in
general and 'Shopgirl' in particular. "I've written 20
essays in The New Yorker, so you can no longer consider me a
dabbler," Steve jokes.
