Re: Stern Family research
- Hi Joey
I have a Spector in my phila family tree[not tied to stern].
My STERN family went from Prussia to Latvia [18xx] to Phila.[19xx]
None of your names match my research, but I do not have all members of my
family nailed down.

I have recently started researching the Stern side of my family. Most of
what I know was told to me by my older relatives, and because I don't know
the town they were from, I am a bit stuck.
The oral history of my family is that they originated in Spain, then to
France, then to Germany where they picked up the name Stern, and then to
Russia. All the relatives I have information on lived in Russia, but I don't
know the town. My gr. gr. gr. grandfather's name was Raymond Stern (I
imagine this is the English version of his name). He had eleven sons by his
first wife, and 3 daughters and one son, my gr. gr. grandfather Frank Stern,
with his second wife. Frank (in Yiddish Fraike?/Ephraim) was bribed out of
the Russian military around 1885 and married to Ida Shpiegal. They emigrated
to Philadelphia in 1892 and had 4 children: Joseph (my great-grandfather),
Elizabeth, Sarah, and Julie.
Any match ups in your research or info on Russian Sterns would be much
Sincerely, Joey Spector
