- I'll have to check my books, but I remember Steiner saying that the
Catholic Church's embracement of the Tridentine Mass was Ahrimanically
inspired, and that this form of mass, entoned in Latin, evoked a
backward form of spirituality; and that the intonations worked in such
a way that they evoked a darkened trance-state infected by Ahriman.
Christ, in contrast, operates in "wide awake consciousness" within the
Consciousness Soul----within our age---whereas the Latin Tridentine
Mass works upon our unconscious centers. It is a return to "the
trance state" as a means of attaining spiritual knowledge.
Perhaps somebody knowledgable of Catholicism can provide more
information than I. I've never stepped foot in a Catholic Church.
Right now there's a movement being started by the current Pope to
resurrect the Tridentine Mass.
I could be wrong on this matter.
