- *******This chapter is an expansion of Steiner's earlier comment that the Greek initiates like Pythagoras had a philosophical form of initiation, a gradual initiation through the use of the mind. That is exactly what happens to one using the Platonic dialogues. Modern examples of men initiated this way are Leo Strauss and Allen Bloom. The reading of Steiner's books also is a path of initiation, as Plato's was down through the centuries.
