- Apr 29Game Idea 10-8-2016 Patsy PagentThe PCs are visiting Delta Iowa Four. It's a boringly normal planet. Mainly a human world, where boring humans live their boring lives doing boringly productive things.As the PCs walk around they see a bank robbery in progress. A woman and her 4 children come charging out of a bank, blasters firing every which way. They are not careful or subtle. They are better with blasters than one might expect.They throw their loot into the back of a generic Mom-Mobile and speed off.This is an invitation for the PCs to intercede. Hopefully not too tragically. Police will demand that PCs use stun settings on weapons if the police get close enough to communicate.Once the Woman and her children are in the Mom-Mobile, they scream off at insane speeds. Apparently, Mom is something of a race driver.Alert PCs might note that at some points, the loot is actually thrown out of the Mom-Mobile.Once captured and restrained, the Mom and her kids have seizures. Once the seizure is over, they are puzzled, concerned and possibly distraught. They have no memory of engaging in the robbery.The police express frustration - they have multiple cases of people committing violent, daring and reckless crimes, and then, once captured, experiencing similar seizure/amnesia moments.By now it's pretty clear to the police that something is happening. Too many people with no criminal history have had episodes where suddenly, they're skilled robbers, shooters, B&E people and drivers, followed by not remembering anything.-*-The PunchlineA criminal gang has discovered a mysterious device. using it, the user can take over the body of otherwise unrelated people.Now, if the GM wants this to be a shorter encounter, he can have the machine work through an object or a substance. Some sort of jewelry or maybe a substance with which targets can be dosed.While possessing a victim, the users must be on couches, hooked up to the device. They are immobile and utterly defenseless during this.There is some signal from the machine to its victims, however, it's not obvious, or else the police would have detected it.Perhaps the PCs have previously encountered some ancients technology, which allows them to be aware of the operating principles of the device.It uses a weird hyperspace band that no one sane uses, and hyperwave data signals encoded in an alien way. If the PCs have previously encountered Ancients technology, they may be more prepared to look for something like this.The Bad Guys using this have either disguised the receiver as a piece of junk jewelry which they give to victims, or the receiver is a substance which is added to a soft drink which is then sold very cheaply to victims.The criminals using this possess people, commit robberies or burglaries and then drop the loot at pre-arranged points where an associate picks up the loot. Then the victims are used to distract the police while the associate leaves the area. The victims are abandoned, leaving them to take the rap.There is other ancients technology present, but the Bad Guys haven't figured out how to capitalize on it, yet.The stash of ancients technology is in the mountains, far away from civilization. One of the Gang members was scouting out places to flee to and lie low and discovered the stash by accident.Once victims are possessed, they go to a pre-arranged point to get weapons and supplies for the planned job.This raises questions - where are the BGs getting guns to hand to patsies?Have the BGs been using their victims to steal guns? From who? Other, Rival crime crews?If a PC has an idea what's going on and is willing to use stun settings the Police are totally okay getting help with this case. PCs who fail to use stun settings are disapproved of and asked to leave.PCs who are very aggressive in putting down the patsies may find themselves charged with murder.-*-
