Subject: Need volunteers for a convention in January 2013!

      Hi Everyone!

I am putting out this mass e-mail in search for volunteers for a Steampunk convention being held on the Queen Mary ocean liner in Long Beach, CA on January 11th - 13th, 2013.

The event is called: Her Royal Majesty's Steampunk Symposium.

Volunteer duties will be very light compared to Sci-Fi conventions as there will be few, if any, autograph lines and celebrities.

The duties will include helping with the registration of attendees, crowd control for an outside activity, checking badges at panel rooms and other ticketed events, and runners/messengers who will also check panel rooms to make sure they are ready before the panels begin.

There is no fan club affiliated with the volunteers. I will be the volunteer coordinator and the organizations that I am currently or formerly a member of (and from where you may know me from) are not involved. With that said, there may be individuals from those organizations who may join us as individuals.

This convention is unusual in its format. It's more like a faire than a convention. However, there will be panels, a murder mystery, dinner theater, a formal ball, musical guests, and many other activities; most of which, the volunteers will be able to enjoy when they are not on their shifts.

I would prefer most volunteers to wear the standard volunteer outfits: "Men in Black"/dark pants-light shirt/business attire. I would prefer that attire, but it will not be strictly enforced. The standard outfits will make it easier for guests, vendors, promoters, and other volunteers to find us.

If you are interested, please send me an e-mail (zimm@...) with the following information:

      Your name
Which day(s) you are interested in volunteering
Contact info such as e-mail address and/or phone number

Feel free to send me any questions you may have as well.

It's not required to commit now, because right now, I am simply getting an idea of how many possible volunteers I may be able to gather.

However, I will be asking for commitments when we get closer to the convention date so I will be able to plan volunteer schedules.

Also, when we get closer to the convention date and I have an idea of how many volunteers we will have, I will be able to give out more information, such as volunteer perks and more details on what will be expected of the volunteers.

Here is the website for the event: http://www.hrmsteam.com/

Please help spread the word that we are looking for volunteers.

Thank you for your time and I hope you will consider joining us!

      Talk atcha later!
