Re: [Star Trek Books] Bookstore Chain in Maine Closing
- I used to buy DTBs at a local bookstore & at a not-that-close BigBookStore
(with no parking convenient & only worth going to if I was in that area on
foot/bus anyway, though for several years that was quite often....)
Then the local one closed (owner retired, couldn't find a buyer) and I lost
a convenient place to get things on special order.
That BBS (& other similar in the 'burbs when I was there) never had what I
wanted, and if I had to special-order (& extra treks there) I found it
easier just to go Amazon.
Now I do mostly read (books, anyway) on my iPad -- but it's only in the past
year or so that I've shifted over.

Subject: [Star Trek Books] Bookstore Chain in Maine Closing
It was on the Maine News packet on Yahoo & in 1 of the Local Papers Sat.
that as of trhe end of April, the Mr. Paperback chain of bookstores will be
closing for good & their Magazine jobber is being sold to an outfit out of
NY. The stores will be having close out sales sarting in March.
I guess there's not enough folks like Capt.'s Kirk & Picard that read dead
Tree Books anymore.
Thought you'd like to know as this chain was the only place to get dead
tree ST novels in my area S. to a big chain in Augusta or N. to Books A
Million in Bangor. For some of the smaller areas they served, this was the
only place to get the out of town papers such as USA Today, Boston
Globe/Herald, NY Times.
