- VANCOUVER CHAPTER: `The Myth of the Wandering Goddess at Dendera"For more information, contact vancouver@...
"The Myth of the Wandering Goddess, commemorating the joyous homecoming from the Nubian desert of the sun god Ra's daughter, his Eye, contains both cosmic and earthly themes. Its presence in the Per-wer Sanctuary, the holiest part of the Ptolemaic Temple of Dendera, shows its great importance in the theology of Hathor. Through creative plays on the aural and visual components of the texts and scenes, the ancient scribes emphasized key elements of the myth, creating a network of interrelationships that mirrors the interconnectedness between the human and divine worlds."
About The Speaker: BARBARA RICHTER is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of California at Berkeley, where is researching temple inscriptions in the Ptolemaic Period, in particular those at the Temple of Hathor at Dendera.
