I agree with your opinion on "written out", it's a bit confusing. Perhaps they want to say that it refers to grades where there are no numbers (and no scale).

Mmm... OK. I had no idea about the "convalidado" grade. Their explanation doesn't make much sense to me because they are saying it is a written out grade and

Might "por concepto" also include the system of "Excelente, Bueno, Satisfactorio, etc", or are those considered "notas" like "5, 4, 3 etc" or "1o, 9, 8, etc."?

Do you know what is the difference to your suggestions and reprobación por nota? That some subjects or courses are graded (0 to 10) and others have no grades

... Hi Lars, Not certain, but this is from Chile and seems to tie the term to not showing up for the exam. Check page 17. It seems a little thin so far.
