Group Description

The Southwest Paleontological Society (SPS) is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting the science of paleontology.

SPS was formed for the purpose of collecting, documenting, and preserving fossil material within the Arizona region, through scientific explorations and educational activities, under the auspices of the Mesa Southwest Museum (MSM).

Member benefits include: monthly lab nights, guest lectures, paleontological digs, unlimited free admission to the Mesa Southwest Museum, and more. See Links for benefits and dues information.

SPS meets on the first Tuesday of each month for Lab Nights: education and hands-on activities with Bob McCord, MSM Curator, 7:00 PM at the MSM Annex. See the Calendar for more details.

Plans for SPS 2004 are in progress. Submit your ideas, or volunteer your expertise, experience, & service as a guest lecturer, workshop presenter, or other activity you would like to see SPS host.

Check the Calendar and Messages for up-coming paleontological digs and other SPS activities. Members are invited to add photos, links and calendar activities to this website.
