The University of Idaho's Department of Movement Sciences and the College of Education are excited to announce the availability of a nine-month, full-time position, as Clinical Assistant Professor in Exercise Science and Health. This is a three year appointment, with annual renewal based on satisfactory performance. The Exercise Science and Health Program, within the College of Education's Department of Movement Sciences, offers rigorous bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees that involve study in exercise physiology, sport and performance psychology, biomechanics, motor behavior, and health. Additionally, the Department of Movement Sciences is leading a signature initiative in Healthy Active Living (HAL.
We seek teaching expertise for a variety of exercise science and health topic areas, primarily, at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will likely teach multiple courses in exercise science and health related disciplines during a given semester, and across semesters. Courses may include biomechanics, motor behavior, CSCS certification preparation, exercise prescription, research methods in movement sciences, and physical activity, wellness and behavior change. Clinical faculty members within the Department of Movement Sciences are encouraged to engage in research and outreach activities; however, this is primarily a teaching position that will also involve student advising responsibilities.
Qualifications: Required: Qualified candidates must (a) possess or be finishing a PhD (ABD considered) in exercise science, movement science, kinesiology, or closely related field (as evidenced by extensive graduate-level coursework in the teaching areas listed above, and research involvement), and (b), demonstrate evidence of the ability to teach undergraduate courses in a minimum of three of the areas listed above. Preferred: We are especially interested in individuals who (a) have expertise in biomechanics and motor behavior, (b) have demonstrated experience of successful teaching at the college level, and (c), have ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist or Health Fitness Specialist, NSCA CSCS, or other relevant certifications.
