Class Description: The gateway to the job is the audition. To get the job,
you have to nail the audition and do it in a way that makes you stand a cut
above the competition. During the intensive, you will get practical
knowledge with hands-on experience in audition preparation and delivery
which will improve your ability to audition in a winning way for Film/TV and
Commercial roles that will make the Decision Makers stand up and take notice
of what you can bring to the table. Preparation includes the homework you
need to do when you are told you have an audition. Delivery includes how to
connect with your audience during a commercial. Both Donise and David have
been the Casting Directors for thousands of auditions and have been amazed
at how many people with talent still don't know how to properly prepare and
conduct their auditions. After this intensive, you will walk away with
renewed confidence and experience that will win you those coveted roles.
The weekend will be divided in half so each student has an opportunity to
work with Donise (Saturday, June 14th) and then with David (Sunday, June
15th). The commercial portion will consist of on-camera work to put your
new techniques to practical use. Everything you need to know in only two
days with top industry experts!
Should you decide to take advantage of only one of the two days, the
registration fee will be $150 OR take both for only $250!
Donise L. Hardy, CSA:
Donise L. Hardy, CSA, owner of A Casting Place in Austin, began her casting
career in San Francisco in 1991; three years later, she established her Los
Angeles firm. In 1999, a move to Austin quickly positioned Donise as the
busiest commercial casting director in the State of Texas.
Donise has cast hundreds of commercials, dozens of films and industrials
during her 23+ year career.
Before taking her career to new heights, Donise was a high-fashion model, a
print model, an extra, a SAG actor, a baby booker, a talent agent and an
extras casting director giving her a unique perspective on casting.
Throughout her career, Donise has taught classes, specializing in commercial
audition technique. Her classes are in high demand and are recommended by
agents, coaches, talent and moms throughout the state. Having conducted
hundreds of thousands of auditions, gives her a special insight into the
Donise is one of the founding members of Network Austin Mixer (10 years),
writes a monthly column "FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH", continues casting select
projects and teaches commercial audition classes.
David A. Cox:
David A. Cox, who studied under Sanford Meisner, has been teaching for over
30 years and was a founder of the thriving NoHo Arts District in Los
Angeles, which has now become a Mecca center with hundreds of theaters.
David has a strong background in theater, producing and directing sixty-five
original plays as the Director of the American Renegade Theater in Los
Angeles. He co-founded the NoHo Arts District, in Los Angeles. He produced
the New York Off-Broadway hits "Chaim's Love Song" and "Panache". He also
directed the films, "The Custody Battle", "Tomato Patch" and "The House
Sale" in addition to the TV show "Local Travel Spots in California".
As a leading man and character actor, he has worked in television and film,
coached acting and dialogue at his Austin Actor's Studio in Austin and is
currently working as a Producer and Co-owner of Pecan Street Productions,
which has several films in development. Here in Austin, David has coached
talented actors in major motion pictures, TV series, indie projects, online
series, plays and commercials.
