Focusing On Gun in Hand, Not Hate in Heart
      ┬ŚMichael Medved

The pregnant Dayna Klein behaved heroically during the shooting at Seattle's Jewish Federation, standing up to the attacker and calling 911.

However, she recently met with President Bill Clinton and announced her new dedication to push tougher gun laws for the state of Washington. But no amount of regulation could definitively stop a psychotic, anti-Semitic killer like Naveed Haq from getting the handguns he used, any more than drug laws prevent addicts from getting their fix. Narcotics regulations do, however, block drug use among the law-abiding, which is a good thing, while gun regulation blocks firearm ownership among that same majority--not a good thing. If one of the eighteen women at Federation had been armed she might have deterred or terminated the assault.

By concentrating on the gun in the attacker's hand rather than the evil in his heart, Ms. Klein follows the sad liberal tendency to focus on materialist solutions for spiritual and moral problems.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive & well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "What a Ride!" ~mary~
