RE: [southbend10k] hl cross slide
Upon further reflection, I am led to question if PT814NK1 doesn’t have an internal machine thread for the cap screw, part #37, to thread into. But if that’s the case, if there’s no cross feed screw, then why does the whole works have a cross feed nut? See how that 938B by itself just isn’t enough info? Lurch
Multiple posts to another group, strung together…so I scored an incomplete HL cross slide for my 10K at auction. I have the main casting, the casting that bolts to the end of it, the lever, sector, shaft, strip of angle stock on the side, stop rollers and the gib screws. What I need to fabricate, and need documentation on, is the rack support
casting and how it attaches to the saddle, the rack, and the cross feed screw/nut. I already have the SBL flyer off Steve Wells' website. I need to fabricate those couple parts, and just having a perspective view from one angle in that 938B.pdf, that just doesn't give me enough to go on...the specific parts I need more info on, that I would have less-than-optimum confidence figuring out myself, are the AS804NK1 casting and the PT814NK1 bushing. If I had the info on those two I'd be good to go. I'm guessing the AS804NK1 has a hole facing the operator that the entire cross feed screw/dial assembly [removed from the other cross slide] screws into until it bottoms against the PT814NK1 bushing. But I'd feel a whole lot better if I had a pic or two in order to be able to verify what I think it's supposed to be but and having a heck of a time describing with mere words...I need pics of the bushing and the rack support from a couple angles to really know what to make...can anyone provide me a few pics of the relevant parts? Thanks in advance Lurch
