                Thanks.

Would I be right in thinking that the electrodes contact (near contact) with the work pc closes the circuit. As a spark jumps to the work pc the coil is energized pulling the electrode away. The electrode having been pulled away breaks the circuit, powering down the coil, allowing the electrode to fall into place again to start the cycle yet again? That it is the initial "jump" of current that is doing the work?

Yes, an arc will occur when it makes and breaks contact. It's basically the way an electromechanical buzzer works but with much lower current. Because this circuit is inductive, the voltage at the electrode can climb to many magnitudes higher than the battery voltage. This occurs when the electrode breaks contact with the work.

After that the battery could explode! Please use extreme caution when messing with them. They

Hello all,  I have a threading dial that fits a South Bend Heavy 10, if anyone knows of a lathe that needs one. This does not fit a 9 , or 10K. If anyone

                              Hello all,

I have a threading dial that fits a South Bend Heavy 10,
if anyone knows of a lathe that needs one. This does not
fit a 9", or 10K. If anyone is interested contact me
                              directly, off-list at nedts6@...

I'm asking $100 plus shipping, and I'll take Paypal.

I also have a very nice milling attachment that fits my 10K.
It's not a South Bend and has no maker's markings on it,
although it looks to be high quality.  I'm considering selling
it also now that I have a milling machine

Again, please respond to my email directly if you have
                               any questions.

                              Regards,   Tony
