      DJ Monkey
      3rd World War
      Squid Music

Producer: Joey Alkes & Mick McMains
Top Cuts:   “Hard Times,” “Love Knows No Color”
Summary: Los Angeles-based spoken-word hip-hop rock act is as eclectic as it is cool and New York street smart. It’s hard to nail this act to any genre and that’s what makes DJ Monkey unique and good. There’s a little Lou Reed mixed in with some straight-up hard rock choruses. New York-raised vocalist Joey Alkes is like the beatnik poet who feels more comfortable with fuzz-treated guitars behind him than some finger snaps, but the anti-war message still comes through.
